Pickleball Courts Surge: 68K+ US Venues Unlock Apparel Demand
TL;DR
68K US pickleball courts with 25K more planned means recurring apparel demand from new venues launching daily.
Pickleball now counts more than 68,000 courts across the US, with around 14 new courts opening every day as cities scramble to keep up with demand.
For sportswear brands, that's a solid infrastructure backbone that locks in recurring apparel needs at facility, club, and league level.
Florida (1,228 facilities) and California (1,223) are effectively co-leaders in pickleball infrastructure, each with more locations than most countries have tennis clubs.
Texas sits in a powerful growth lane. With 941 facilities, it trails Florida and California by roughly 300 sites, but markets like Austin are already running 90%+ court utilisation and triple-digit lesson growth, pointing to a future top-tier cluster.
The SFIA estimates the US still needs another 25,000 courts and $900M in construction just to satisfy existing demand.
That means hundreds of new venues will come online in the next few years, each launching with staff apparel, coach uniforms, and retail inventory from day one.
For sportswear founders, pickleball is in the rare phase where the courts are going in faster than the apparel brands.
